Flavio Peroni

Mr. Peroni obtained his degree at the School of Oenology in Conegliano Veneto in the mid-1970s and went on to have an extraordinary career as a winemaker and consultant. He is considered one of the most accomplished winemakers in the world and is thrilled to share his experience in winemaking with Cap*Rock.

For 23 years, Mr. Peroni worked as a winemaker for the esteemed Bertani winery in Valpantena, Italy. After two decades of winemaking, Mr. Peroni sought out a personal and professional challenge and began to work as an independent consultant for various wineries, designing and overseeing projects to boost production standards and winemaking quality all over Europe. While serving as managing director of the consulting business, he also became greatly involved with the legal affairs and winemaking operations for Zymè winery.

Mr. Peroni has received international acclaim for pioneering the cultivation and production of new grape varietals and numerous awards for his label designs. In 2005 he was awarded the Cristal Award for the best in content and design of his Harlonquin wine bottles. Through Bertani, he recently released three news wines that have won multiple awards in Europe.

Having grown up in Verona, Italy, Mr. Peroni is excited to bring his unique and seasoned brand of expertise to the Texan terrain. A world traveler, Mr. Peroni is particularly excited about discovering the US wine industry and helping to initiate production expansion in Texas. Mr. Peroni is passionate about trying new wines and looks forward to conducing wine tastings and winemakers dinners at Cap*Rock to introduce new wines to Cap*Rock’s loyal audience.

Alberto Marchetto

Mr. Marchetto grew up in Vicenza, in the Veneto region of Italy and received his graduate degree in Agricultural Science and Technology from the University of Padua, one of Europe’s highest-ranking universities, where he conducted groundbreaking research on the training systems of the grapevine

Following graduation, Mr. Marchetto collaborated with the Experimental Institute of Viniculture of Conegliano, analyzing terrain for planting and growing regional varietals. This project was the first of its kind performed on such a vast area and extremely significant for the winemaking community.

Having established a reputation for his work in this specific field, Mr. Marchetto was sought out by one of the Soave region’s premier winery and in 2003, he became the winemaker at the renowned Borgo Rocca Sveva, Cantina di Soave.

Mr. Marchetto has become well known in his field as a respected agronomist and technician who has extensive experience with delicate varietals, such as the Garganega and Corvina grape. In addition, he possessed a very valuable background in the science of viticulture. Mr. Marchetto’s wines have been featured in, and won at prizes at, such prestigious competition as the International Wine Challenge, the Concorso Enologico Verona Top Wines, and the Vinitaly Wine Competition.

Mr. Marchetto is thrilled to join Cap*Rock as an associate winemaker and looks forward to cultivating new and interesting grape varietals for the winery. He is excited to live in the beautiful Texas plains and discover the possibility in our Texan soil. Having been already dubbed the “adopted son” by Cap*Rock’s General Manager, Don Roark, he looks forward to making teamwork and winemaker accessibility a number one priority for the Cap*Rock team. In addition to winemaking, Mr. Marchetto is excited to indulge in such “American” interests as steak dinners, outdoor basketball games, skiing and bike riding.
