Cap*Rock Winery Welcomes Italian Winemakers to Join the Texas Team!
Lubbock, Texas, February 13th - Cap*Rock Winery is pleased to announce two new additions to its winemaking team: winemaker Flavio Peroni and agronomist and associate winemaker Alberto Marchetto. Mr. Peroni and Mr. Marchetto hail from the Veneto region of Italy and are excited to introduce their international winemaking methods and innovation to Cap*Rock’s operations.
Known for its bold, classic flavors, Cap*Rock has paved a unique path for the Texas wine industry since it debuted its first wines in 1992. With the help of our new winemakers, Cap*Rock plans to maximize its operational capacity and utilize its impressive 23,000 square foot facility to make more wine with different varietals.
Interested in the international appeal of its Texas wines, Cap*Rock has formed a close relationship with the Cantine Marchesi Fumanelli Winery, which has been producing excellent wines for 600 years in the Veneto region of Italy. Recently, Cap*Rock has become American importer of Fumanelli’s fine wines and has met some of Italy’s finest winemakers along the way.
In order to expand upon this wonderful alliance, which will introduce Texas wines to the rest of the world as well as invite Italian methods of winemaking into the US, Cap*Rock is thrilled to bring onboard Flavio Peroni and Alberto Marchetto to make new wines and to expertly blend Texas grapes with Italian wines in the future.
Both gentlemen have spent decades in the wine industry and are regarded as some of the finest technicians, vineyard managers, and winemakers in the world. Both have received international accolades for their efforts and are known for pioneering the cultivation of unexpected grape varietals in new areas. They are excited to bring their ideas to Texas, learn about our land, and merge the tradition of Italian winemaking with the independent spirit of Texas wine.
Cap*Rock is pleased to announce these appointments, effective immediately. Please direct all comments, inquiries, or press requests to Special Projects Coordinator Hollis Witherspoon @ hwitherspoon@caprockwinery.com
