For the second year in a row at the Lone Star State Wine Competition, Cap*Rock
has been awarded the Gold Medal, Best of Class and Grand Star of Texas for the
best red wine for the 1997 Cap*Rock Merlot. Last year this "triple
crown" award for the best red wine went to the Cap*Rock 1996 Reserve
Cabernet Sauvignon, Newsom Vineyards.
In addition, the 1997 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Newsom Vineyards, and the
1997 Cap*Rock Cabernet Sauvignon were each awarded a Silver Medal and Best of
Class. This is a major feat and we congratulate our winemaker, Kim
McPherson.
