Rock Winery is a Texas Two-Step closer towards their goal to be the “star” of Texas wines. Most recently the winery was awarded five medals at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo - 2012 International Wine Competition. Five medals out of the gate is nothing to blush about. As a matter of fact, the owner, Catherine Bodenstedt is grinning ear to ear with their Texas Reserve Champion, award for their Blush Royale (Texas High Plains). The Texas Reserve Champion is the highest award for a Texas Blush wine. The winery was also awarded a Silver Medal for its Sweet Moscato Royale, Silver for its 2010 Roussanne (Texas Appellation), Silver for its 2010 Tempranillo (Texas Appellation) and a Bronze for its 2010 Sweet Tempranillo (Texas Appellation). “We are ecstatic to have our wines awarded at this prestigious competition. It is wonderful to have our winemaking recognized. I’m extremely proud of our team and amazing Winemaker, Michael Vorauer,” stated , Catherine Bodenstedt.
Some of you might recall the long history of Cap

Rock Winery, but they prefer to write a history of their own. While this is not their first rodeo, the folks at Cap

Rock know that behind every successful wine, is a fantastic Winemaker. Michael Vorauer joined the winery in August of 2010. He is an experienced Winemaker who has created vintages all over, including Germany on the Rhine River and multiple wineries throughout Texas. This German Texan holds numerous awards under his belt, like a Double Gold from the Dallas Morning News Wine Competition. Michael’s passion for winemaking extends back two generations. In fact, his Austrian Grandfather established Texas Winery Number Five in Fredericksburg, TX in the 1930s, so Michael grew-up with an appreciation for fine wine. He credits his grandfather for providing him with big boots to fill, along with the wisdom that stems from generations of family winemaking.
Clearly, the tradition of Texas winemaking resides deep in the hearts of all the folks at this exciting new winery and they invite y’all to taste some of their award-winning wines.

The Jefferson Cup Invitational has celebrated its twelfth year as the only competition that honors the best of the best among wineries from all of America’s wine regions. Each year we select great wines from across America; the 2011 competition included wines from twenty-two states. At the end of the second day of this year's tasting, November 18th, wines from eleven different states had captured top honors. Just as the event’s namesake would have it, democracy reigned at this year’s Jefferson Cup Invitational Wine Competition.
