Cap*Rock Cabernet Royale Only Texas Wine On Can't Miss List
According to an article by Jeff Siegel in the June, 1999 issue of Southwest Airlines Spirit magazine, "There are two great myths about drinking good wine. The first is that it's some sort of mystical and magical ritual, ruled by high priests who mumble incantations about oaky, toasty, and supple vintages. The other is that you have to spend a lot of money to drink it."
In his article, Siegel names The $10 Wine Hall Of Fame. Ten can't miss wines, he says, that you can bring to someone's house for dinner and impress everyone with your savoir-fair.
Cap*Rock Cabernet Royale, 1996, from Cap*Rock Winery of Lubbock, is the only Texas wine on Siegel's "can't miss" list.
About the Cap*Rock Wine, Siegel said, "Most reasonably priced roses are either too sweet, like white Zinfandel, or too tart, thanks to poor winemaking. This Texas-made blend is neither. It's light enough for afternoon porch sipping, but not so sweet that it leaves the nasty aftertaste that gives wine a bad name."
