Tasting Talk Cap*Rock has two "Great Whites" as part of the ROYALE series of wines - Diamond Royale and Topaz Royale. Both wines have been very popular at recent tastings around the state and their sales are showing it. The comments about Diamond Royale most heard at tastings are, "I don't like dry wines, but this is good!" Diamond Royale, a superb blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Semillon, retains the fruit character of the grapes but in a pleasant dry style. Topaz Royale, an exotic blend of Chenin Blanc, Riesling and Muscat Canelli, gets enthusiastic thumbs up at tastings for its lush fruit qualities and delicate sweetness. The most common comment about it is, "This would be great with spicy foods." Both are excellent choices for entertaining, dining or just relaxing with a glass of wine. Garnet Royale, a soft, dry red wine and Cabernet Royale, a rose of Cabernet varietals, complete the ROYALE series.
Cap*Rock's sales manager for West Texas, Don Roark, is cornering the New Mexico market with particular emphasis on Santa Fe, Taos, Chama, Ruidoso and Red River. Eagle Vineyards in Las Vegas placed their first order of Cap*Rock in February and began with Diamond Royale and Garnet Royale. The wines were requested by Mr. Barrie Larvin, Master Sommelier, at the Rio Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for their retail store which specializes in fine wines from around the world. John Bratcher, Cap*Rock Vice President of Sales and Marketing, named Glazer's Wholesale the sole distributor for Cap*Rock in Louisiana. The wines will be available in New Orleans, Shreveport, Baton Rouge and other cities beginning in late April. Cap*Rock is also available in Oklahoma and Utah with plans to add several other states this year.
